We'd like to introduce a new feature this week with RGTR.com. Every so often we plan to feature a community site, whether it's a fansite, clansite, or blog, and give our readers a special behind-the-scenes look into what that site is all about. To enter, just follow the process to get your site added to RGTR.com located here.
This week, we talk to Cryptor about his fansite, MMORPGslave.com, what his fansite is up to now, and what we have to look forward to seeing in the future.
What prompted you to create a fansite for Tabula Rasa?
When I first started playing Tabula Rasa I knew that this game was something really special. I realized early on that Tabula Rasa was one of those rare mmorpgs that are here for the long haul and that I want to be a part of the great community that gathered around it. I decided to utilize my limited knowledge of web design to create a free online community for all Tabula Rasa players - A place where we could meet, chat and talk about all things Tabula Rasa. The fansite has been slowly growing ever since and I never looked back ;). The Tabula Rasa community is full of great people who will support you on every occasion, the whole experience has been tons of fun!
What are some of the most popular sections of your site?
Popularity of various sections changes as time passes. When I first started the fansite the most popular items were all my reports on various game patches and additions. Soon afterwards my exclusive interviews with members of the Tabula Rasa team took the torch as the most poplar articles (I would like to thank everyone who helped me with getting those published - especially Cuppa Jo).
Everything changed the day when I published the first video podcast about building a 64bit PC that will be able to play Tabula Rasa on maximum graphical settings. The video podcast is by far the most popular item on the site now and every few days podcast views seem to double. I never expected so many people to be interested in what I have to say on the video, infact the only reason why I gathered enough courage to do a video and post it on the fansite is 'couse I never expected anyone to want to see it ;).
These days the most visited section is (by a wide margin) the podcast section (due to the video podcast) and the screenshot gallery.
What can players look forward to seeing on your fansite?
I am very excited about the future of my fansite and I have some big plans for it! Here is a short list (no particular order) of some of my plans :
1. More videos - Video podcasts, video interviews, gameplay videos, videos from game shows
- another words : More Videos ;). Video content was very well received - you can count on
seeing more of it in the future!
2. More interviews with Tabula Rasa team members - I would very much like to do interviews with everyone on the team, especially people involved in the technical back-end of making and maintaining the game. Also more interviews with Tabula Rasa Clan Leaders.
3. More Contests - We all love free stuff (It's my favorite stuff) and I plan to do allot of them! Infact I would be happiest if I could give away some free stuff every single week. Right now I am running a screenshot contest (that anyone can join - no registration required) with literally tons of prizes! And all you have to do is to e-mail (or submit online) your favorite screenshots to admin@mmorpgslave.com to win these amazing prizes! I am giving away everything from 30 day game cards and Tabula Rasa T-Shirts to Tabula Rasa Collectors Boxes and Pre-Order boxes!
4. PC Gaming Shows - This is one of the two big hopes of mine. I have never been able to go to one of those, and I would love to attend them. I know that allot of people out there love to view the footage from them as much as I do, and I would very much like to provide it for them. I plan to eventually attend game shows and post video footage from them on my site for all Tabula Rasa fans to see.
5. Destination Games/NCsoft Visits - If there was anything on this list that I would really like to do then this would be it. I would love to be able to visit people who make the game in person, talk one on one, and post the videos and articles back on the fansite. I mean, who would not want to meet the famous Cuppa Jo in person - huh? ;)
6. Tabula Rasa Links and Screenshots - I would like to have the largest collection of Tabula Rasa links and screenshots on MMORPGslave.com I really want it to be the place where people go to for quality, confirmed Tabula Rasa links and great screenshots. I want to have every single quality Tabula Rasa site listed and I want everyone to post their best screenshots on my site :)
The most important thing to me is that MMORPGslave.com becomes not only a place where Tabula Rasa players gather but also a place that will be valued among the devs for its creative community. I want to do everything I can to make our beloved Tabula Rasa the best and most popular mmorpg out there (some would agree that it already is those things) and to have tons of fun doing it!
